Early College of the Redwoods

Beginning in the community of Klamath, California, we asked our community about our dreams for the future. Tribal elders, leaders, educators, youth and parents all had a say about what it was they wanted to learn and be taught, and what skills would be keys to success in the future.
Using awar winning research we developed an innovative curriculum that is community focused and culrtually relevant. We have big dreams about what education can be to a community. To help us achieve these dreams we created strategic partnerships with:
The Center for Native Education, Antioch University
The Yurok Tribe, Klamath, California
College of the Redwoods
United Indian Health Services
Reinventing Schools Coalition
Our Mission:
Create healthy and sustainable communities through transformational education.
Our Vision:
Increase the number of high school and college graduates who are grounded in culture, place, and community.
This summer, KRECR will be partnering with Yurok Indian Housing Authority to do some work experience projects, giving back to our community in ways beneficial to the well being of our people. The focus of KRECR students will be to build smokehouses, ramps and/or other simple projects for our elders who are unable to do these things for themselves. For more information on KRECR, visit their website, or call YIHA at 707-482-1506 and we will direct you to the person who can best meet your needs.
