Fiscal Department

The Fiscal Department is a critical part of the Yurok Indian Housing Authority. Anytime an organization deals with using grant money, it has to be near perfection in the bookkeeping department or possibly lose funding. Our fiscal staff are on top of the ball game and have come through audits with flyig colors. Theta Taylor- Fiscal Director- ext. 1004

Theta has worked at YIHA for over 6 years, first as a bookkeeper, then as a manager, and is currently the department Director. Prior to working here, she was the Executive Financial Director for Tulle Housing Authority for 11 years. Theta moved to this area over 6 years ago with her husband to retire but found that she still had the desire to work. Wanting to work for an entity that had value, she chose YIHA." My heart is in finance and I love seeing families get homes. I believe in this program. It makes a difference in people's lives. Fiscal is an important part of the process. If audits and books are not in order, the funding won't come in to help those families who need it most."

Albert Fischer- Accountant- ext.1016

Albert was hired here at YIHA on January 26, 2010, as an Accountant. Born in Richmond, California in 1947, Albert's family moved to Eureka when he was three years old and has lived in the area since. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force where he served 20 yearsin the fields of accounting and computer programming. Upon retiring from Military service, Albert then spent a combined 20 more years with various organizations expanding his knowledge in accounting, including working as the Yurok Tribes Assistant Fiscal Director. Albert has a wonderful wife, grown children, grandchildren and over half a dozen great-grandchildren. He enjoys reading and playing poker in his off time, and when asked how he feels about working for YIHA, he simply says, " I enjoy it. We're helping people and that's what the basic purpose of the whole organization is about. Every persons job is as important as the next. Each effects the other and works together in fulfilling the mission."
