Administration

The Administration Department oversees the day-to-day operation of the Housing Authority, from answering phones, sorting mail, ensuring policy compliance and grant requirements; preparing the newsletter, updating the website and grant writing.  Administration is responsible for ensuring that the Board of Commissioners (BOC) received timely and accurate information in regards to the overall operations of YIHA. Administration is also responsible for ensuring that BOC approved policies and directives are carried out.

YIHA is funded through the Native American Housing and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA) appropriations, which provides for the operation and administration of current programs. In order for YIHA to provide programs that are not regulated by NAHASDA of HUD guidelines, YIHA applies for grants from other federal, state or nonprofit agencies.

Yurok Tribal Member Judith Marasco returned to YIHA in February 2009. Most of her career has been in Housing and we want to thank Judith for her continued loyalty to our people and for all the hard work and uncountable hours she puts into making this vision and mission a reality!

Kim Mamaradlo- Executive Assistant Extension 1003

Kim was born in Crescent City, CA, and is a Yurok Tribal Member. She is great-grand daughter to Lillian Blake & Mate Puzz and has been blessed with two great kids and recently purchased her first home. Kim graduated with honors from Southern Oregon University with a Bachelor’s in Visual Art. She joined YIHA in July 2009 as the Program Specialist.

"I love YIHA because:

"1 - the staff is great, 2- I am able to put my creative, organizational and multi-tasking skills to excellent use and 3 - I have the opportunity to encourage other Tribal members to take advantage of the great programs YIHA has to offer."

Carol Nova- Receptionist

Extension 1000

Carol has been with YIHA three years now. She lives with her husband and three kids in Klamath where she was born and raised. Prior to working for YIHA, Carol was a Dental Assistant for a private practice. "I enjoy working with the people and our elders. I love to hear all the old stories that are stored up in their memory banks and of how things used to be. It's exciting to see our people get homes that they can be proud of and look forward to coming home to at the end of a day."

John Melvin

Environmental Assessment Coordinator

Extension 1014

John came out of retirement to join the YIHA staff and he works to complete the environmental reviews that are necessary prior to construction or remodel projects. John previously worked for the Yurok Tribe as the Natural Resources Director, with Environmental Programs, and as a GSA Tech in the Fiscal Department. He has been married to his wonderful wife for 44 years and they have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. "Coming back to work has been a great opportunity to do what I did in the past and see how much things have advanced in the ways of gathering the needed information. I do what I can to speed up the process in getting our people into homes. Oh, and retirement was nice, I recommend it for everyone!"
